CImplement Monitoring AR

Monitoring of In-class AR

This is what a typical in-class AR period look like. These two students have selected their books to read from digital myON reader. Before they fully settled down and focused on their reading, I walked around a bit and asked them briefly for the books they read, whether they were at the right ZPD and whether they enjoyed reading them. That's just a brief simple way of making sure they read with best AR practices especially reading at the right level.

I find that with that kind of check before students do reading, they are aware that they need to make sure they read at the right way, especially if they are asked about their ZPDs. I find that when they are able to engage and enjoy their reading, the focus is high level and the  silence is very deep, one can easily hear a pin dropped.

Alex below displayed a very high focus on his AR reading that day. While controlling the turning of his digital pages, his focus was amazing. The AR book he read that day was accompanied by an oral reading, so while he read the words, he listened to a voice reading the same. This helped their learning of words and their pronunciations.
